Novel Idea...

So I went to the West Side Market last week to pick up fresh fruit and veggies.  When I got home I realized that I got enough fruit for a small country.  I didn't want the fruit to spoil so I immediately washed and dried my blueberries, strawberries and grapes then put them on cookie sheets and popped them into the freezer.  I also put my yogurt in the freezer when there is a good sale on it.  I now have something HEALTHY to grab when I have a sweet tooth and want ice cream.  The frozen yogurt isn't exactly ice cream, but it's the cold sweet that plays games on my brain.  Plus the fruit is perfect to throw in little bags and I just grab and go.  I did the same with the bag of peppers I bought.  I cleaned them and cut them up and threw them in the freezer.  Great for my morning omelets, in soup or stir fry!

Twenty-one days to form a new habit...weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise....positive thinking makes way for positive results.

Something needs to click here.  Weight loss for the first month was horrible and now I have to step it up. I'm being accountable for my bad weigh in.

Happy Monday

So I get a nice little email from my mother, unable to post a response to my blog. I just thought I would share what she sent to me in an email...words of encouragement.

"P",
Wrote a message on your blog, but it did not appear. Obviously I did not do it correctly.  My message was: I never thought I would CONGRATULATE you on being a big loser!!  I'm sure you can do anything you put your mind to and will finish a winner. Love Mom

Another encouraging situation this weekend... I was at a funeral for a dear family friend and I was told "I saw you in the newspaper and we are routing for you!"  Even in sad times I'm receiving the pats on the back that mean the world to me.

It is a tough journey we are on here peeps, but keep your heads up and your bellies full of good food and we will ALL finish "losers"!  Peace out...

Fatless Tuesday

Well today is the last day that people gorge themselves before their 40 days of giving up something or other.  I had a cuppy-cake put in front of me and my mouth started watering and my little devil started screaming "EAT IT! EAT IT! EAT IT!" But my little angel shoved my head into a corner so I could no longer see the big beautiful bright fluffy lump of SUGAR!!!!!

Tempt me not my dear friend!  Your "eat cake, lose weight" diet is not going to work with me. I love you to pieces but I will not give in to your evil ways.  "Do an extra sit up" she says.  One sit up will not get rid of that cuppy-cake that went straight to my spare tire around my waist!

So here I sit with my egg beaters, turkey snausage and a slice of bread with some grainy things in it.... TAKE THAT MY TEMPTRESS!!!!! But boy do I want a cuppy-cake..... Peace out!

Oh the joy of being ill...

So I'm getting past all this sickness stuff. At work we have a Biggest Loser challenge and I weighed in as usual... I WAS THE BIGGEST LOSER! Chaching!

While I was ill I changed up what I was eating and when.  I encorporated vegetables into every meal (even if it sounded weird).  I drink water until I couldn't even stand looking at an ice cube!  I was unable to do cardio so I just did strength training with my free weights. My efforts obviously paid off.

Now my next hurdle..... working late hours AND Saturday.  We bring in food and sit at our desks without out a break.  Well this princess is going to do jumping jacks at her desk even if it makes her look like a goon!!!

Okay, gotta concentrate of my meditation... peace out.

EAT YOUR VEGGIES!!!

I was trying different ways to incorporate veggies into my meals so it doesn't become a "chore".  My little mind got a ticking and BOOM! it hit me... sneak them into your morning egg white omelet.  Low and behold I have created a monster in myself.  Green peppers, onions, black olives, turkey snausage AND brussels sprouts.  Yes, you heard me right, brussels sprouts.  I peel those little suckers and drop them in and they get a very pretty green and when the egg white is added they get steamed a little. OH MY GARSH was this the best breakfast I've had all week!

Despite my little setback of having malaria, I'm trying to eat well and at least do arm strength training.  My lungs are on the right path to feeling better, which means I will soon be able to start my cario up again.  If anyone says it is easy to be in this contest, mark my words... you are wrong!  Life hits us and hits us hard. We want to just pile on the excuses, but I have worked around my illness and am finding ways to push past this obsticle.

It was nice to see fellow Leaners at Cabana's last night.  I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to see you next week for supper!  It was delish, by the way....
